L. Scheine, Architect, received September 19, 1974. These drawings
have not been approved for the reasona noted in the review. Please
restudy and resubmit two corrected sets of drawings.
Review of the above submission has been compieted pursuant to Chapter
WAC 248-14 of the Nursing Home Codified Rulea, Regnlatione and Standards
adopted by the Washington State Board of Health on March 11, 1960, as
amended. Section WAC 248-14-100 of the Codified Rules requires that
dravings shall be approved before construction begine and such plans and
specificatione be used as conatruction contract documents.
The review findings are divided into parts, as follows:
1. Show the location of aeparated, enclosed, reasonable-sized storage
facilities for patient clothing and personal belonings for each
patient. WAC 248-14-220(13)
2. If the existing seven-bed ward is converted to two separate rooms
as shown on the plan, "new cunstruction" requirements would have to
be met for both rooma. This would lnvolve several items which the
rooms would fail to meet such as SS square feet of usable floor
finace ner bed, three feet of clear space around each bed except at
the head, and traffic from one bedroom through another bedroom in
order to reach the toilet and bathing facilities ould be prohi-
bited. Tt is suggested that the seven-bed ward renain as an exist-
ing seven-bed ward. This could be done by reducin the extent of
the partition in the middle of the room by ending it 4 feet, 4
inches f:om the inside wall and instead of two doors opening into
the hallway, retain only one door. See tdAC 248-14-17.0(2) (a)6(d)
3. Tha nurses' call system eignal devices will have to be relocated for
each bed. Please show on the plan.
