As the ceiling forms the protective membrane for fire-resistance, the asseRblies <br /> and their supporting horizontal swctural members are required to be individuaUy fire <br /> protected when tho members support direcdy applied loads from a floor and roof, or <br /> more than one floor. The ceyuired fire iesistance shail not be less than that ieyuired <br /> for individual protection of inembe�s (two-hour fire-resistance to hold up the twa <br /> hour exterior wall). Additionally, all walls supporting the two-hour fitt-resistive <br /> (horizontal) assembly will be requiad to be of similar fire-resistive consttuction. <br /> De.vls are required and all effected wall and floodceiling assemblies should be <br /> individually called out in plan and section. Secdon 704.2.6 <br /> c). 1'he above mendoned walls will require a parapet if located less than 20' from <br /> the properry line and the roofs are either combusdble constructiun or lus than two- <br /> hour construction. The bridge within the main court spans between two buildings which have bcen <br /> sepazated by an area sepazation wall. This condition violates the requiroments set <br /> focth in Section 504.6.1 that a complete sepazadon is required. However, also stated <br /> in that section is that portions of buildings separated by the anea separadon wall may <br /> be considered separate buildings. A connection between two adjacent buildi:igs is <br /> permitted by the utilization of a pedestrian walkway as outlined in Section 409. <br /> Based on this assumption,the following comments apply: <br /> a). As a court must be unobstructed to the sky by�iefinition, the pedestrian walkway <br /> divides the court into two courts,one on either side of the walkway. <br /> b). Opening protection for the pedestrian walkway is required per Table 5-A. An <br /> assumed property line must be shown (E-W) for each of the two courts. Secdon <br /> 409.3 <br /> c). Pedestrian walkways shall be conshucted at a minimum of one-hour fire-rcsistive <br /> consuvction, or heavy-timber construction in accordance with Section 605.6 Section <br /> 409.2 <br /> d). Pedestrian walkways at other than grade shall conform ro the rcquirements of a <br /> horizontal exit for the required exit out of the connected dwelling units (r�+pe A) and <br /> Gazden Deck per Section 409.7. See "Horizontal Exit"secdon below. <br /> 2. 'I'he additional assumed property lines will require the ezterior exit balconies to be re- <br /> evaluated for exterior wall and opening protecdon. Note that for fire-resistive <br /> consuvction and opening protection requirements, the exterior wall is not the interior <br /> wall of the exit balcony,but the wall where the railing(typ) is currendy shown. <br /> a <br />
