PROPOSED ANSI A225.1 (formerly ANSI A119.3) <br />Manufactured Home Installations <br />3•3.4 TIES - Strapping or other approved methods or materlal shall be used for tles. All <br />tles shall be fasten�a�i to ground anchors and drawn tight with turnbuckles or <br />other adjustable tensioning devices supplled wfth the ground anchor. <br />(a) Tie material shall be capable of resisting an allowable working load of 3,150 <br />Ibs. (1,439 kg.) with no more than 2% elongation and shali withstand a 50°h <br />overlosd (4,725 Ibs. or 2,143 kg. total). Tles shall comply wlth t�e weathering re- <br />quirements of 3-3.8.1. <br />(b) Tles shall connect the ground anchor and the maln structural ateel frame <br />that runs lengthwise under the manufactured home. Tles shall not connect to <br />the steel outrigger beams which fasten to and fntersect the maln structurai <br />frame unless speciflcally stated in the manufacturcr's installation Inatructions. <br />� 3•3.8.1 RESISTANCE TO WEATHERING DETERIORATION - All anchorinp eGuipment ex- <br />posed to weatherinp shali have a resistance to weather deterioratlon at least <br />equivilent to that provided by a coating of zlnc on fl�eel of not leas then .0825 <br />oz./aq. ft. (0.18 kg.lsq. meter) on each side of the aurface coated, as determined by <br />ASTM STANDARD METHOD OF TEST FOR WEIGHT OF COATING FOR ZINC- <br />COATED (GALVANfZED) IRON OR ST�EL ARTICLES (ASTM A80-69). <br />Note: Slit or cut edges of zlnc coated steel atrapping do not need to be zinc <br />coated. <br />3•3.8 ANCHORING EQUIPMENT • All anchoring equfpment shall be Iisted and labeled <br />as being capable of ineeting ail requirements of this section. <br />Note: In the absence of the enforcement of "Ilsting and labelinp", it Is recom- <br />mended by leadfng manufacturers that traceability can be suitably achleved <br />throuph indellbly marklne the steel atrappinp every twelve Inches.
