Page 7
Mr. and Itm. Darrel Freudenberg
result of continuing saturation of loose fill material
which had been placed an a sloping natural ground
surface. According to the report, the fill slope my
oomt, iae to slough and yield is a downward direction
ewer a period of many years regardless of any erosion of
the too of the fill or the natural soils. The report
further concludes that the portions of the property
NE/ARP abaracterised by steep, natural slop" have had a
histuy of instability. slope failures and surface
creep form the mechanism by which the powder Rill Gulch
was formed. The report indicates such movements may be
expected to continue and could at some time in the
future become critical.
s. Landau Associated Report dated Ray 10, 1984 -
Enginoor Consultation - Residence of Mr. and
Ms. Darrel Freudenburg
According to this report - prepared at your request -
slides on the property to the east of the crook have
occurred for a great number of years and probably extend
back to prehistoric tits. The soil closer to the croak
bed and probably underlying the house includes
interglacial soil deposits frequently associated with
slides in the Puget sound region. some of the
preliminary conclusions in this report are as follow:
1. Erosion by Powder Rill Gulch Crook has probably
contributed to the slumping of the soil between
the house and the crook.
2. same of the slumping that has occurred has
probably caused partial diversion of the crook
to the west, where it would be more prone to
undercut land between the house and the creek.
3. Earth slides and slumping to the east of the
crook include both recent and prehistoric
movement.
Ruch of the earth movement may be attributable to spring
activity, although undercutting contributes to erosion
and slumping. This report recommends that mediate
steps be taken to stabilise the bank adjacent to the
house in order to prevent lose of the structure. The
report also recommends that surface water from
downspouts or other sources not be permitted to
discharge on or above the slope._
