There
have been 2 important changes since my original Construction Permit application.
Existing windows that were installed by earlier property owners, were found to be seriously defective,
as was their entire construction project, which was carried out without the benefit of a permit, for the
purpose of cutting a small slice off the end of their house. After demolishing and removing everything
they had done, I found that I was unable to use these windows as originally planned, so I have
substituted new Anderson Windows 72" wide by 48" high. These windows are in new condition and are
efficiency rated at less than U-0.35. I have installed 2x8 window headers above these windows, to
match, supported by 2x6 jack studs. The same basic design is being followed, as originally submitted,
with the exception that the window openings are larger to accommodate the new windows. All 2x6
studs will still have a maximum of 16" centers. Please refer to my attached new Floor Plan, revised
12/22/09, for location of these windows.
On November 23, 2009, 1 invited a building inspector to visit the project for a consultation. He
claimed that an error had been made on the October 2, 2009 Floor Plan, previously submitted. He
claims that the correct width reported for the complete restoration should have been 48", not 30" as
originally reported. 30" was added to the roof line, but 48" was added to the floor, because only some
of the original roof and trusses had been removed. But the inspector was correct that the actual
amount of floor space gained was 48 So perhaps the square footage I reported for "REMODEL/Ti"
0
