Jeff Heilman
December 22, 2009
Page 2
should have been 96 SF not 60 SF as currently listed on my Construction Permit. Consequently, the
Permit Valuation listed as $5,640 might more appropriately lie somewhere between that and $9,024. If
your office believes it would be appropriate to assess additional Construction Fees on account of this
discrepancy, please let me know.
Next, the building inspector was concerned that the Simpson Strong Strap indicated in my original
Construction Permit might not be sufficient, due to the nature of this repair. He was concerned that the
engineer that approved use of this strap might not have realized that the entire wall was completely
severed at this point, prior to •e-construction, not just that both caps had an end point within so many
inches. Even though I am satisfied with the strength and rigidity of the new construction, which is far
stronger than what originally stood in its place, I am nevertheless proposing an additional
reinforcement, to be sure. Consider adding a Y, diameter carriage bolt "to hold the studs together' at
this juncture. Also attached, you will find a Supplemental Detail of the Side View Cut -Away that shows
placement of the `.impson Strong Strap, along with the Y, diameter carriage bolt.
I hope these new modifications meet with your approval. If so, please reissue a new or modified
Construction Permit. If you have any questions, or need any additional information or documentation,
please let me know. Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Steven 1 Boretos
6-q
