The fan coil units as have been described
to you by Allied Sheet P1eta1 Fabricators, Inc. point out that the basic
unit which is UL approved has been modified by the addition of two separately
UL approved components. It is our understanding that due to the modifica-
tion caused by the addition of these UL components, that the code in its
interpretation does not allow for this modification to be incorporated in
a total unit and still remain to have its UL listing.
Ken, I do feel that the units as designed and modified are in the best
interests of the John Fluke Mfg. Co. , Inc. for the following reasons:
1 . The basic units are UL approved.
2. The added components to the basic unit are UL approved.
3. The timing and cost involved in obtaining new approval by UL upon the
basic unit with these new components is totally excessive.
4. The delays which could be created in attempting to obtain this total
UL listing would preclude our ability to occupy the facility on schedule
at this time.
5. Qur suppliers and contractors have not been successful in locating a
presently manufactured unit which incorporates all of the functions which
we ar•e attempting to provide.
6. The design and modification of the basic fan coil unit as identified
was intended to provide the John Fluke Mfg. Co. , Inc. with the most
energy efficient heat distribution system that is possible with the
over all design concepts employed.
pAn qyb Wy.Cp. Int./pp BoK.7210/Mountleke Ternce WA BBO/3/(208) 772211 /T4X 910 M9 2850/TLX 32 0013
