Cooper, dated December 19> 1980, questioning the
adequacy of the fire access road around the west and north side of the
Phase I building.
From his letter it appears he is concerned about the beauty bark top-
ping over the 6 inch road base functioning as an all •eather driving
surface for his fire equipment. l•le understand the fire department aill
be making oeridic viits to the Fluke plant and ill utilize the fir
access road during these visits, ahich on the average occurs once every
3 to 4 months initially.
In response to the Fire hlarshal 's concerns, it must be kept in mind
that his inspection tour +as made •ihen the road •ias only partially com- i
plete and during the time of the year •+hen the •reather is not the most
favorable. 4!e understand the landscape contractor aill be, or has
already graded the shouluer areas of the road so there ill be positive
drainage across and aiay from the road. t•le also understand that the
road will be maintained so this proper drainage ti•ill continue. There-
fore, provided that the road subgrade and base were constructed as
specified, in my opinion because of the loi•i frequency of use and the
700 Iloyd bldg., seary', wo 9d101 (206)622-5922
anchorape los angeles poriland seaFtle ,
