2.03 VALVE BOXES <br /> Volve boxes shall conform to Section 5.3.12 of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 2 J4 FIRE HYDRANTS <br /> A. Fire hydrants shall be Corey type (opening with ihe pre:sure) conforming to <br /> AWWA C502-64 with a 6-inch inlei and a minim�m M.V.O. of 5-I/4 inch, <br /> per Section 5.3.15. <br /> B. Fire hydranis shall be of Traffic type and provision shall be mode for <br /> drainage ot barrel to protect units from freezing. Fire hydrants shall be <br /> Pacific S�otes Cast Iron Pipe Co. (Model 2) or approved equal. Approval of <br /> ihe City of Everett must be obiained prior to installation. <br /> C. Hydranis shall be painted per Section 5.3.15.1. <br /> D. All hydrants shall be installed with an auxiliary gate valve b�:iween ihe <br /> hydrant main volve and ihe water main. The gate valve shall be UL <br /> opproved ond have a iwo-inch square operating nut. The volve shall be <br /> installed at ihe hydrant-lateral tee. If the hydrant is greater than fen {10) <br /> feet from ihe main, the gate valve shall be installed in ihe lateral line, ten <br /> feet from ihe hydrant. The protector cover for fhe valve shall be left i� <br /> plain view, flush with grade after landscaping or paving. <br /> E. Hydranis, auxiliary gate valves and supply lines shall be installed fo meet <br /> sound engineering standards per NFPA //24, paragraphs 4202, 4301, 4302, <br /> 4303, 4304, 4305, ond shall be tested in occordance with Section 5.3.22. <br /> PART 3- EXECUTION <br /> 3.01 INSTALLATION <br /> AIl water mains and appurtenonces shall be insTalled in accordance with <br /> Section 5 of the Standard Specifications including ihrust blocks. Due to the <br /> varying site conditions, ihe Contractor shall be responsible for sizing of <br /> thrust blocking, per Standard Drowing No. 505. <br /> 3.02 TREIJCH, EXCAVATION AND BACKFiLL <br /> See Section 02221 for trench condifions. <br /> 3.03 TESTING <br /> AIl water lines, valves and fire hydranis shall be tested and corrected as <br /> required, to conform to Section 5.3.22. <br /> 3.04 DISINFECTION <br /> All water lines and appurtenances sha�l be disinfected to conform to Section <br /> 5.3.22.7. <br /> 02713-2 ��� � <br /> 8301 <br /> �i <br />
