1) The public art themes for Everett Station shall: <br /> a) Embrace the environment by reflecting Everett's surrounding natural environment in <br /> the art projects and building materials within the Station building; <br /> b) Celebrate industry recognizing Everett's long tradition as an industrious community <br /> through crafting with one's own hands; <br /> c) Communicate Everett's history and diversity of its values; <br /> d) Transition into Everett's future through the creation of art that is timeless in form and <br /> content; and <br /> e) Create value added projects by integrating art projects into construction documents <br /> whenever possible to increase the value of the art program. <br /> 2) With the funding available for the public art program (and outside of the Sound <br /> Transit public art program funding for Everett Station), the following is a prioritized <br /> listing of art projects for inclusion within the Everett Station project: <br /> a) Installation within the station building of the Kenneth Callahan murals previously <br /> donated to the City of Everett by the Weyerhaeuser Company, depicting Everett's <br /> lumber history; <br /> b) Commissioning/Purchasing of 2-Dimensional art works within the station building <br /> that would depict a sense of community and present a diverse view of Everett (i.e. life <br /> in Everett); <br /> c) Creation of Station area art works which would develop a"sense of place" in the <br /> landscaped areas of the park and ride,plaza areas, vehicular turnaround fronting the <br /> station building, and station area entrance; <br /> d) Creation of a Great Hall (i.e. atrium) floor entryway to "welcome"people to the <br /> station building; <br /> e) Installation of a station clock within the Great Hall that will become a focal point <br /> within this public gathering space; <br /> f) Mounting of"Wall Sconces" on the columns inside the Great Hall which would add a <br /> level of"human touch" and lighting detail; <br /> g) Installation of"Circulation Benches" on the second and third floor public corridors to <br /> enliven the space and invite people to comfortably mingle; and <br /> h) Creation of a Great Hall backdrop to be reflected in the wall glass and interior <br /> railings. <br /> 3) In order to maximize both the probability of local area artist participation in the <br /> design, manufacture and installation of public art for the Everett Station project and <br /> public review of the public art design process,the following general procedures <br /> should be used: <br /> a) A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) should be released to artists on the Snohomish <br /> County artist mailing list, and to any artist that requests an RFQ; <br /> 2 <br />
