RESOLUTION NO. 4680 A resolution stating support of the framework for the regional coordination of transit fares and transfers, as developed by the Regional Fare Forum. WHEREAS, there is a regional need to facilitate transfers between the Central Puget Sound's public transportation systems to promote transit ridership, and WHEREAS, the implementation of Sound Transit's planned transit service will greatly increase the number of intersystem transfers within the Central Puget Sound region, and WHEREAS, representatives of the boards of Community Transit, King County Metro, Pierce Transit, Sound Transit, and Mayor Ed Hansen representing Everett Transit, meeting as the Regional Fare Forum, agreed upon a framework to guide the development of specific regional fare and transfer policies, and WHEREAS, these policies may have an impact on Everett Transit's pass sales annual revenue, and WHEREAS, the participating transit systems' governing boards, including the Everett City Council, have been asked to give their approval of the framework in concept, and WHEREAS, on August 26, 1998 the City Council did hold a workshop with representatives of Sound Transit outlining the concept of the framework and Regional Fare Forum's recommendations, and WHEREAS, an interlocal agreement adopting and implementing regional fare coordination and transfer policies will be submitted for Council approval following the resolution of implementation details; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT: The Transportation Services Department staff are hereby requested to work with staff from other transit agencies in the Central Puget Sound Region to develop a proposed interlocal agreement, subject to council approval, establishing and implementing regional fare coordination and transfer policies consistent with the conceptual framework set forth below:
