RESOLUTION NO. 4680 <br /> A resolution stating support of the framework for the regional coordination of transit <br /> fares and transfers, as developed by the Regional Fare Forum. <br /> WHEREAS, there is a regional need to facilitate transfers between the Central Puget <br /> Sound's public transportation systems to promote transit ridership, and <br /> WHEREAS, the implementation of Sound Transit's planned transit service will greatly <br /> increase the number of intersystem transfers within the Central Puget Sound region, and <br /> WHEREAS, representatives of the boards of Community Transit, King County Metro, <br /> Pierce Transit, Sound Transit, and Mayor Ed Hansen representing Everett Transit, <br /> meeting as the Regional Fare Forum, agreed upon a framework to guide the development <br /> of specific regional fare and transfer policies, and <br /> WHEREAS, these policies may have an impact on Everett Transit's pass sales annual <br /> revenue, and <br /> WHEREAS, the participating transit systems' governing boards, including the Everett <br /> City Council, have been asked to give their approval of the framework in concept, and <br /> WHEREAS, on August 26, 1998 the City Council did hold a workshop with <br /> representatives of Sound Transit outlining the concept of the framework and Regional <br /> Fare Forum's recommendations, and <br /> WHEREAS, an interlocal agreement adopting and implementing regional fare <br /> coordination and transfer policies will be submitted for Council approval following the <br /> resolution of implementation details; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF EVERETT: <br /> The Transportation Services Department staff are hereby requested to work with staff <br /> from other transit agencies in the Central Puget Sound Region to develop a proposed <br /> interlocal agreement, subject to council approval, establishing and implementing regional <br /> fare coordination and transfer policies consistent with the conceptual framework set forth <br /> below: <br />
