It appears .`rom my investigation that the original application� iuclud- ing plans and specifications� was approved by �11 Departments� except Che TrafLic Engineer. The Traffic Engineer evidently expressed disapprocal of the str�et .evel provision for parkin� and indicated that if certain support beams were moved� the applicant could conply with ltis off-strn�t �-::z;cing requirement. Thereafter� and withouC fu*ther consulting with the Buildi�.g DeparCment� the Applicant evidently changed the structural location of certain be�ms. TI;Ls change •.esulted in a violation of the 'Loning Code and was made with- out apprising the Building Officials� and in particular the IIuiidinF In- spector. The Buildins Inspector had not approved such change� nor was he �iven an opportunity by th� Applicant to expreas his apprwal. If he had� the obvious violation of the �onin�; Code change would have resulted in his disapproval of the chanp,c in plans. Tltereafter� the applicant evi- den[ly proceeded and a atop-work order was contemplated. You are advised that the sole authority for approval and issuance of Che 6uildink permits is vested in Chc Buildin� Inspector of the City of EvcretC. -1-
