• <br />Occupancy <br />NON-STRUCTURAL <br />1. The occupancy of the garage, U-1, should also be listed on the cover sheet. Section <br />312 <br />2. The structural members supporting the horizontal occupancy separation are required <br />to have individual fire protection equivrJent to the separation rating per Section <br />302.2. Many interior beams do not directly support applied loads from a floor and <br />roof or more than one floor however, and are therefore allowed to be protected by the <br />ceiling membrane per Section 704.2.6. The instances of required individual <br />protection should then be called out on the plans for those instances such as shown in <br />Detail 10/14. <br />3. The smoke detectors should be specified to be `hot-wired' and have a battery backup. <br />Section 310.9.1.3 <br />Construction <br />1. The one -hour floor -ceiling assembly should be specified for the R-I portions of the <br />building with details and listings provided. Table 6-A <br />2. The method of providing for ceiling membrane protection at the instances where the <br />moisture -vent -fans and ducts penetrate it should be detailed on the plans. Section <br />710.2 <br />The exterior walls of this type V-1 hr building shall be a listed one -hour assembly. <br />Currently, the exterior side of the walls are shown unprotected per Section A/13. <br />Table 5-A <br />4. The cripple wall shown in Section A/13 (and typical) should be shown bearing <br />completely on the concrete foundation wall below, or calculations provided which <br />shows the capability of the plates to resist the loads in compression perpendicular to <br />grain, and any overturning loads induced due to the eccentric loading. <br />5. Fire blocking should be shown in the 1" airspace at the floor to wall junction of <br />Detail 12/14. Section 708.2.1 <br />6. The series of TJI should be specified for each intended size shown. <br />The stair landings and similar surfaces exposed to the weather should be waterproofed <br />and sloped a minimum of 1 /4 unit vertical in 12 units horizontal (2% slope) for <br />drainage.
