These comments address building issues only, additional revisions or additions may be required by other departments (such as Utilities, Planning or Fire). All references refer to the 1994 Uniform Building Code, as amended by the State of Washington and/or Washington State Energy Code 1995 Edition, unless stated otherwise. In order for the processing of your application to continue, it will be necessary to provide the Building Division with two complete new sets of drawings reflecting the corrections requested. Occupancy I . The occupancy of the garage, U-1, should also be listed on the cover sheet. Section 312 2' The structural members supporting the horizontal occupancy separation are required to have individual fire protection equivalent to the separation rating per Section 302.2. Many interior beams do not directly support applied loads from a floor and roof or more than one floor however, and are therefore allowed to be protected by the ceiling membrane per Section 704.2.6. The instances of required individual protection should then be called out on the plans for those instances such as shown in Detail 10/14. The smoke detectors should be specified to be 'hot-wired' and have a battery backup. Section 310.9.1.3 Construction 1. I.he one -hour floor -ceiling assembly should be specified for the R-1 portions of the building with details and listings provided. Table 6-A \.2/The method of providing for ceiling membrane protection at the instances where the moisbire•vent- fans and ducts penetrate it should be detailed on the plans.
