C I Y l CaN,tt, I M,nN�Q/ <br />September 23, 1998 <br />President Anderson opened a public hearing regarding a proposed resolution <br />authorizing the demolition and clearing of the buildings located at 3229A and <br />3229B Vetmore Avenue. <br />President Anderson invited public comment. <br />Moved by Councibnember Pope, seconded by Councibnember Campbell to <br />ease the public hearing. <br />Laura Van Slyck, Director of Code Compliance, presented a brief background <br />on the buildings proposed for demolition and the previous actions taken. <br />Councilmember Overstreet questioned whether the owners had made any <br />attempt to obtain the demolition permits. 1 <br />Laura Van Slyck responded that one of the owners had been in contact with the <br />Building Department in July, the process had been through SEPA, but that the <br />money for the permit was never received. <br />Coui,cilmember Pope questioned whether the City would receive interest on <br />their money if a lien was filed against the property for the demolition. <br />Laura stated that an itemized report would be prepared for the City Council <br />which would include any and all expenses incurcu by the City from the time <br />formal abatement began. After the City Council accepts the report, it will either <br />be collected by the City Attorney as a personal obligation against the owners or <br />it will be filed as an assessment against the property. Interest would accrue in <br />either case. <br />President Anderson disclosed his acquaintance with one of the owners of the <br />property. He questioned wh--ther anyone objected to him participating. <br />No one objected. <br />477 <br />
