These <br />comments address building issues only, additional revisions or additions may be required by other <br />departments (such as Utilities, Planning or Fire). All references refer to the 1997 Uniform <br />Building Code, as amended by the State of Washington and/or Washington State Energy Code <br />1997 Edition, unless stated otherwise. <br />In order for the processing of your application to continue, it will be necessary to provide the <br />Building Division with two complete new sets of drawings reflecting the corrections <br />requested. <br />1. UBC 904.2.9 requires three story Group R Division 1 occupancies to be <br />automatically sprinklered. The requirement should be indicated on the drawings. <br />2. City ordinance requires a monitored fire detection system. This should be indicated <br />on the drawings. <br />3. Doors separating apartments from garages and loft storage areas are required to <br />have a one -hour fire protection rating. UBC 302.3.4. <br />4. The stairway connecting three levels is required to be enclosed as specified in UBC <br />1005.3.3. The exit enclosure doors are required to have a one -hour fire protection <br />rating. <br />5. The horizontal occupancy separation between the garage and dwelling above is <br />required to be of one -hour fire -resistive construction. Provide Gypsum <br />Association, UL or ICBO evaluation report number. <br />6. The ceiling/roof assemblies and floor.ceiling assemblies are required to be of one - <br />hour fire -resistive construction.
