As ahown on the enclosed location/geologic map cross section of
the slope area. the apparent contact between the Double Bluff and
Whidbey Formations apparently dips toward the west at approximately
5°-10°. The sand and eand/silt interbeds within the Wnidbey
Formation also apparently dip at aimilar angles, indicating
some tectonic activity.
Overlying the Whidbey Formation is a variably thick cequence of
Vashon Age glacial deposits including glacial till and associated
glacial outwash . These materials are generally thin Nithin the
im estigated areas as indicated by the borings. In fact, the
Vashon age materials were generally not encountered along the
slope area except for two general areas (approximate STA 25+00
and 38+00), where the asaociated glacial outwash materials were
encountered. i
Alluvial soils consisting of recently deposited silts, sands '
and gravels, artificial fill and talus/slide debris. occur
eporatically throughout the site . The upslope area was Pound to
consist of some local Yilling, particnlarly within the depression
area noted on the location map. Considerable talue and slide
debris occure along the toe-of-slope, derived from the upslope.
Publiahed informationt regarding the geology of the subject etudy i
area generally supports our interpretation of the geologic condi-
tions which prevail in the area.
AIR.,PEffiT03 _ I
Stereoscopic pairs of air photos taken in 194y, 196 and 1981 I
wer.e studied. Generally. we found that development within the
area had begun and was about 60J developed by 194. By 1967,
approximately 80 oS the area had been developed and by 1981,
95b of the area had been developed into single Samily housing.
Some of the residences present during the early photcs have been
replaced. remodeled or added onto by the latest photos.
Mackey Sith, Preliminarv surficial eologic map of
the Mukilteo & Everett quadranles, i
Snohomiah Co. , Wash.
