PORT OF EVERETT SECTION 02200 <br />UNION SLOUGH MARSH MITIGATION EARTHWORK <br />3.5 IMPORT BERM FILL <br />A. "Import Berm Fill" material will be provided by the CONTRACTOR and used at the <br />d'uection of the PORT. <br />B. Deposit material as necessary to excavate the site and construct the borm <br />C. Protect material from moisture. <br />3.6 BERM CONSTRUCI'ION <br />A. Construction Access Roads: <br />1. Construct access roads and ramps as required to excavate the site and construct , <br />the berm <br />2. Access roads shall be rortaved prior to project completion. <br />B. Subgrade Prepazation: Prepare areas as noted in Part 1, "Genera] Description." <br />C. Filling and Excavating: <br />Fill and excavate to contours and elevations shown. Place berm ffi material at <br />moisture content that allows wmpaction as specified. <br />2. Place and compact fiU materials in WSDOT Speci6cation Section 2-03.3. <br />3. Maintain optimum moisture wntent of fill materials to attain required compaction <br />density. <br />4. The CONTRACI'OR shail provide the proper siu and typc of compaction <br />Iequipment and selxt the proper method of utilizing it to attain the required <br />compaction. The PORT may require the use of any particulaz compacting unit <br />discontinued if it is not capable of compacting the material to the required density <br />Iwithin a reasonable time, or if the equipment may damage underlying or adjacent <br />� soiLs. <br />D. Do not fill over ponded surface water or existing subgrade surfaces which are yielding, <br />disturbed, or softened. <br />E. Suspend placing fill when the climatic conditions will not allow proper placement and fill <br />compaction. Work done in inclement weather shall be at CONTRACTOR's risk. <br />02200-5 <br />
