PORT OF EVERETT <br />UMON SLOUGH MARSH MITIGATION <br />E. <br />SECTION 02900 <br />PLANTING AND SEEDING <br />2. Set plants upright in center of hole flush with finish grade, rekase root <br />covering or sproad roots. The roots of the plant shall be placed as to have <br />a natural spread and distribution. Bacicfill with planting mix to fi�ish grade, <br />working soil well around the roots and heel tart�ping to compact backfill <br />and provide s6ght depression as watering saucer. Care shall be talcen not <br />to injure the root system whik back611ing and corr�acting the planting mix. <br />3. Fertiliu at the specified rate applied unifomily around the circumferonce of <br />the root spread under a cova of 2 inches of planting mix. Plant <br />groundcover plants at spacing indicated in straight, evenly spaced rows. <br />Mulching: Immediately after cort�ktion of all planting, mukh all planted areas to <br />a minimum compacted depth of 2 inches. <br />Maintenance: <br />1. It shall be the Convactor's rcsponsibility to maintain all the landscaped area <br />of this contract from time of installation until fuiel acceptance. Swap <br />pavement ckan and remove dead plants as d'vected by the PORT, who <br />shall record plants removed. <br />2. All plants shall be watered by thorough sprinkling as naded to keep the <br />ground moist, the plents healthy, and to pavent wilting. Care shall be <br />exercised to prevent soil erosion. <br />3. Tras: Maintain in a vigorous, thriving condirion by wataing, pruning, <br />cultivating, fertilizing, spraying, and otlkr na;essary uperations. Spraying <br />shall be done only as required and a, approved by the PORT. Plants will <br />not be accepted until active growth is evident. All tra supports, guys, tree <br />wrap, etc., shall be kept intact and adjusted as required and e�'ective in <br />maintainu►g 5rm support throughout the guarantee period. <br />G. Clean-up: A general clean-up shall be made 'umrrcdiately after and as part of all <br />work done in the area. The clean-up shall include the entire area unda this <br />contract. Adjacent azeas shall be cleaned ro the extent that the Wotk done under <br />the contract may scatter litter. Such clean-up shall include pick-up and removal <br />from the contract area of all clippings, trirtvnings, leaves, and all other Gtter and <br />debris originating from any source whatsoever.
