Grade as indicated aRer installation of topsoil crowned as detaikd and <br />mukh flush with adjacent surfaces unkss otherwise specified or detailed. <br />3.2 PERFORMANCE <br />A. Planting Time: Plant tras, shrubs, and groundcovets during periods which are <br />nomial for such Work, as determined by season, weathu conditions, and accepted <br />practice. At the option and on the full responsibility of the subconvactor, planting <br />operations may be conducted under unseasonable conditions without additional <br />com�ensation. <br />B. Plant Locations: After placement of topsoil, stalce tree locations and position <br />shrubs above ground as per Drawings for approval of PORT. Make field <br />ad,'rystments to avoid obswcrions to planting such as urigation equipment. PORT <br />reserves the right to 5eld adjust plent locations prior to planting. <br />C. Planting Trees: <br />Excavate troe pits 6 inches daper and twice the diameter of the root ball. <br />Excavated soil shall be disposed of on-site in an approved location. <br />Thoroughly scarify bottom of pits by shovel cutting to a depth of 12 inches. <br />Sides of pits shall aLso be shovel wt to hdp root penetration. <br />2. Place tra in upright position in cxnter of pit, nle�xe root covering or <br />spread roots. Roots of tras shall be so placed as ro have a natural spread <br />and distribution and planting mix shall be carefully, thoroughly packed and <br />puddkd around them Take care not to iq'ryre root system whik backfilling <br />and cort�acting. Aker water settles, 611 again with planting mix and water <br />compact to a grade of not more than 1/2 inches higher than the original <br />ball. In seeded areas, 5nish grade smooth with siurounding area. <br />3. Fertiliu trees at the specifi�d rate applied uniformly azound circumference <br />of root spread under a cover of 2 inches of planting mix. Stal�e and guy <br />tras invtxdiately after planting as per standard detail. All supports and <br />trees shall stand vertical. <br />D. Planting Shrubs and Groundcovers: <br />After topsoil placement and approval of finish grade, excavate planting <br />pockets at locations shown on Drawings and as d'uxted to a diameter of <br />twice the root spread and to a depth that will insure a 3 inch cushion of <br />compacted planting mix below the root ball.
