August 21, 2013 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at <br /> 6:30 p.m., August 21, 2013, in the City Council Chambers of the Everett <br /> City Hall, President Moore presiding. Upon roll call it was found that <br /> Mayor Stephanson and Council Members Moore, Murphy, Gipson, Bader, <br /> and Stonecipher were present. Council Members Roberts and Affholter <br /> were excused. <br /> Council Member Bader led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the August 7, 2013, Everett City Council meeting were <br /> approved as printed. Council Member Gipson abstained from the vote. <br /> The minutes of the August 14, 2013, Everett City Council meeting were <br /> approved as printed. <br /> MAYOR <br /> Mayor Stephanson commented on the success of various events held in <br /> Everett over the past weekend with over 32,000 people in attendance. <br /> The Mayor also reported on his attendance at the Summer Reading <br /> Award Ceremony last evening and thanked Library Director Eileen <br /> Simmons and staff for a successful program. <br /> The Mayor introduced honored guest Ashley Barguest and her father <br /> Shawn Barguest. Ashley raised over $3,000 in donations to help pay for <br /> the replacement of Garfield Park play equipment that was vandalized in <br /> May 2013. Mayor Stephanson accepted a check on behalf of the City and <br /> thanked Ashley for her committed and exceptional work. <br /> The Mayor proclaimed August 10-13, 2013, as Lowell's 150th Anniversary <br /> Celebration Day in the city of Everett. He thanked council members who <br /> were in attendance at Lowell's 150th birthday celebration and parade and <br /> congratulated Lowell neighborhood leaders for a successful event. <br /> Jackie Minchew accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Lowell <br /> neighborhood and thanked Gail Chism for her contributions. <br /> 225 <br />
