Poor soil conditions were encountered during the preliminary design <br /> phase,which required additional design effort. During the design phase, it was determined advantageous to <br /> include the redesign of the existing backwash pump station as well other elements not included in the <br /> original scope. It was decided during the original scoping to not include scope and fee for construction <br /> period services, as it was not known at that early stage what the design solution would require during <br /> construction. Therefore, scope and fee for services during the construction period are included with this <br /> amendment also. The new contract amount will be$1,679,647. <br /> The new 6.7 million gallon clearwell will add system redundancy, operational flexibility, and contribute to <br /> increased plant capacity to allow for increased system demand. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Authorize Mayor to sign Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Carollo Engineers <br /> for additional design and construction services at the Water Filter Plant for the sum of$991,000.00 <br /> 411 <br /> C.. <br />
