t <br /> mob: <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE relating to Automatic Fire Detection and Fire <br /> Suppression Systems, Amending Sections 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 <br /> of Ordinance No. 1902-02 (EMC 16.76.020, 16.76.030, 16.76.040, <br /> 16.76.060, 16.76.070, 16.76.080, 16.76.090, 16.76.100, 16.76.110 and <br /> 16.76.120), Adding two new sections, and Repealing Section 5 of <br /> Ordinance. No. 1902-02 (EMC 16.76.050). <br /> Whereas,the City Council is aware that some terminology changes in the <br /> International Building and Fire Codes,particularly with respect to occupancy types, has <br /> necessitated some updates to the City's automatic fire detection and automatic <br /> suppression systems ordinance, Ordinance No. 1902-92; and <br /> Whereas,the City Council also desires to accomplish other necessary and <br /> relevant updates to the automatic fire detection and automatic suppression systems <br /> ordinance; <br /> Whereas,the City Council finds that this ordinance serves to protect the public <br /> health, safety and welfare;and <br /> Whereas,the City Council finds that the absence of the regulations adopted by <br /> this ordinance would create a public harm; <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: Section 2 of Ordinance No. 1902-92(EMC 16.76.020),which reads as <br /> follows: <br /> Definitions. <br /> For purposes of this chapter, words and phrases used in this chapter shall mean as <br /> follows: <br /> "Approved"means approval by the city of Everett fire chief as a result of <br /> investigation and tests conducted by him or by reason of accepted principles or tests <br /> by national authorities,technical or scientific organizations. <br /> "Area separation wall"means a wall constructed in accordance with the <br /> requirements of the UBC. <br /> "Automatic fire detection system"means a heat and/or smoke detection system <br /> monitored by a central and/or remote station conforming to the requirements of the <br /> UBC. All references in this chapter to automatic fire detection system means an <br /> 2 12 "approved"automatic detection system. <br />
