r <br /> EXHIBIT A - SCOPE OF WORK <br /> for the <br /> PRELIMINARY DESIGN <br /> LIFT STATION NO. 24 REPLACEMENT PROJECT <br /> CITY OF EVERETT WORK ORDER No. UP 3313 <br /> Background and General Project Description <br /> Murray, Smith & Associates, Inc. (MSA) has developed the following scope of work and fee <br /> estimate for preliminary engineering design services for the Lift Station No. 24 Replacement <br /> Project. The scope and fee have been developed based on our discussions with City staff and <br /> our project understanding and proposed approach to the work. This scope of work is for the <br /> preliminary design phase. The outcome of this work will be used to define the scope of <br /> services for the final design and construction phase engineering work. <br /> The main objective of the preliminary design effort is to identify and evaluate alternatives <br /> that require decisions by the City and then to make recommendations for implementation of <br /> the project. The preliminary design task provides an opportunity to receive technical input <br /> from the City and gather additional data to more precisely define objectives for the detailed <br /> design of the project. The City desires to complete this preliminary design effort by <br /> February 2008. <br /> The need for this project is based on Capital Improvement Projects identified in the City of <br /> Everett - 2006 Comprehensive Sewer Plan, May 2006. The plan recommends that pumping <br /> improvements be accomplished in Basin SE-7, specifically that Lift Station No. 24 be <br /> replaced due to the condition of the station. The new station capacity is to be approximately <br /> the same as the existing capacity of 3,500 gallons per minute or as otherwise determined by <br /> the preliminary design effort. The plan recommends that the new station be in service in the <br /> year 2010. <br /> Scope of Work for Preliminary Design <br /> The proposed scope of work for the preliminary design of the Lift Station No. 24 <br /> Replacement Project is divided into the following work tasks: <br /> Task 1 Project Management <br /> Task 2 Information and Data Gathering <br /> Task 3 Design Criteria Development <br /> Task 4 Concept Development and Evaluation <br /> Task 5 Surveying and Mapping <br /> Task 6 Geotechnical Investigations <br /> Task 7 Preliminary Design Report <br /> Task 8 Unanticipated Labor or Expenses <br /> City of Everett MURRAY,SMITH&ASSOCIATES, INC.
