r
City of Everett
do Murray Smith and Associates
August 10, 2007
Page 2
b. Trenching and temporary excavation techniques; including shoring, temporary slopes,
and pipe support.
c. Discussion of geologic and seismic hazards associated with the site, including
recommended mitigation measures,if needed.
d. Recommendations for foundation support including bearing capacity and expected
settlement at the lift station location. Lateral earth pressures and backfill requirements
for the lift station structure and pipelines. Also provide a discussion on the effects of
buoyancy, as appropriate.
e. General earthwork recommendations, including site preparation, structural fill
recommendations and compaction requirements, suitability of on-site soils for reuse in
trench backfill, mitigation of unsuitable soil conditions, impacts of weather and
construction activities on site soils, and temporary and permanent cut slope requirements.
f. Drainage and erosion considerations, including construction dewatering considerations
andestimated permeability coefficients based on laboratory sieve analyses.
g. Provide a summary of subsurface conditions encountered as information becomes
available, and attend three design team meetings, as requested. Prepare a written report
presenting our conclusions and recommendations along with supporting boring logs,
laboratory data, and other appropriate figures.
h. Review preliminary plans and specifications and provide comments and additions with
respect to geotechnical considerations.
City Responsibility:
1. Secure right-of-entry from private property owners, as needed. Review proposed boring
locations.
2. Provide field locate marks for buried utility lines on the lift station site.
Deliverables:
1. Eight(8)bound copies and one(1)loose copy of the Draft and Final Geotechnical Reports.
Assumptions:
1. The anticipated subsurface conditions and the associated risks are generally known for this area.
However, if the subsurface exploration program reveals unusual subsurface conditions, which
may increase the risk of construction, the expansion of the exploration program will be
considered.
PROPOSED BUDGET
Our services will be performed and billed based on actual hours worked multiplied by hourly rates for a
total amount not to exceed $16,500. We will not exceed this estimate without a change to the scope of
services. We will not proceed with a revised scope without your prior authorization.
t'G
File No.0661-068-00 GEOENGINEERS
