EVERETT CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET
PROJECT TITLE:
XX Consent COUNCIL BILL#
Action Originating Department Public Works
Change Order #2 to extend First Reading Contact Person Tim Marks
construction contract time for Second Reading Phone Number 8872
the Water Pollution Control Third Reading FOR AGENDA OF 9-12-07
Facility Expansion Phase A Public Hearing
Initialed by:
Department -ad ,1 i
CAASte_
Council President '
Location Preceding Action Attachments Department(s)
Approval
Water Pollution Control Award Contract 2-17-05 Change Order#2
Facility on Smith Island Change Order #1 1-3-07
Amount Budgeted $40,956,477 (Hoffman Contract)
Expenditure Required None Account Number(s): UP-2993-40
Budget Remaining $6,314,824.60
Additional Required $0
DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Hoffman Construction Company has completed work on the Water Pollution Control Facility Expansion
Phase A. An extension of time to the contract is needed. It does not increase the contract cost. Continuing
challenges with the Liquid V-notch weirs (LVN's), used to control the rate of injection of sodium
hypochlorite, resulted in a change-out of the LVN's to metering pumps. The time needed to supply, install,
and commission the metering pumps exceeded the original estimate by 43 calendar days. City Staff is
requesting a 43 day extension to the construction contract.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to sign Change Order #2 to the Water Pollution Control Facility Expansion Phase A,
construction contract with Hoffman Construction Company extending the contract by 43 calendar days.
11
