However, I work in Everett and have been actively involved in the Everett community for the last 9 <br /> years. <br /> Board(s)/Commission(s) of interest: Diversity Advisory Board <br /> Why do you want to serve on this board/commission? I have worked in Everett for 9 years <br /> and I am actively involved in community organizations and activities that serve diverse populations in Everett <br /> and Snohomish County. I am committed to diversity and inclusion and would like to work with others to create <br /> a community where everyone is valued, respected and included. I feel that my personal background,professional <br /> work experience, educational background and cultural competency skills make me an ideal candidate for the <br /> Diversity Advisory Board. <br /> Please provide background, experience, and qualifications that would assist you in <br /> serving on this board/commission: Over the last decade,my professional career has focused on <br /> multicultural education, diversity, equity and inclusion. As the Associate Dean for Diversity at Everett <br /> Community College, I am responsible for providing services to and implementing programs for historically <br /> underserved student populations. I also coordinate institution-wide diversity initiatives. In addition, I work <br /> with ethnic minority communities within Everett and Snohomish County and feel that I have a good <br /> understanding of and appreciation for the unique needs of our growing diverse communities. Finally, as a <br /> women and person of color, I feel that I would bring a valuable perspective to this advisory committee. <br /> List past or present community involvement: My current community involvement includes serving <br /> as chair of the YMCA of Snohomish County Minority Achievers Program Advisory Committee and member of <br /> the Snohomish County MLK Community Celebration Committee. I am also a member of the Communities of <br /> Color Coalition(C3). <br />
