i
•
LANGUS PARK MASTER PLAN UPDATE
Paul reminded the commission that we'd like its recommendation to revise the
master plan. We have reviewed the existing plan; additional suggested
modifications will be reviewed today.
Hal reviewed the recommended updates.
Des asked about the purpose of dredge spoils.
Hal replied the Port of Everett, DNR, Dept. of Ecology and others are involved in
this process. There is no concern with hazardous waste although this is tested
regularly.
Dick asked if there has been discussion regarding taking this project as far as
Mukilteo.
Hal replied no, we have not checked into that although it would expedite the trail
process.
Kathryn asked if this area was prone to flooding.
Hal replied no, due to the high bank. This area is enforced with heavy ballasts
and is protected.
Des—this is acceptable if there is value to the park but would like something from
the Port if it was different.
Brenda added that the building will be "LEED" certified and very technical in
order to handle the animal shelter.
Mary Jane asked if improved directional signs will be considered as part of the
process.
Hal replied yes, and the animal shelter will want new signage also.
Des commented he would like the county and city to work better together when
considering topics such as fencing.
Paul asked for the commissioners' recommendation to approve the revised
master plan.
Dick moved to approve the revised master plan and send to council for approval.
Dianne seconded.
Des asked if there is a sense of costs involved. Paul replied that the park
department expenses involve trail improvements; and added that parks staff
recommended the animal shelter and off -leash dog area, and trail improvements
be also included.
Paul thanked Hal for all his work with photos and documentation on this project.
