The parks are closed to public use outside of posted times. The Parks and Recreation director shall <br />have the authority to modify the time a city park is open to the public where the director determines it <br />appropriate. This amendment will help accomplish the following two objectives: <br />The first objective is to have posted hours that reflect the amount of daylight available for customers to use <br />parks by season. The second objective is to provide the Parks & Recreation director the necessary flexibility <br />to modify operating hours due to, for example, seasonal activities, off-peak and low use times, and to help <br />address, as needed, community security and safety concerns. Generally, parks where organized activities, <br />facilities and scheduled events operate later than the posted closing time (e.g. rental hall use at Forest Park or <br />soccer game at Kasch Park) will remain open until the completion of those activities, facility uses or <br />scheduled events. <br />Cost of re-signing posted times is expected to be negligible. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Adopt an Ordinance Amending Section 29 of Ordinance 2442-00, Everett <br />Municipal Code 9:06.208 (Trespass in the Parks - Punishment), to revise the operating hours of city parks <br />and authorize the Parks and Recreation Director to modify operating hours where deemed appropriate <br />CADocuments and Settings\Sueark\Desktop\Mar. 14 Council\CS Park hours ordinance revision 3-12-08.doc <br />
