EXHIBIT A - 4 SCOPE OF WORK 1S contract documents are being fulfilled, to responsibly carry out the program of inspection to guard the City against defects and deficiencies in the work of the Construction Contractor, and to advise the Construction Contractor when defects and deficiencies are observed in the work. Contractor (MWH) will direct its efforts toward determining that the completed project will be in general conformance with the plans and specifications, but Contractor (MWH) shall not be responsible for the means, methods, techniques, or procedures of construction selected by the Construction Contractor(s) or for the safety precautions and programs incident to the work of Construction Contractor(s) or for any failure of Construction Contractor(s) to comply with laws, ordinances, rules, or regulations applicable to the construction work. The parties recognize that the Construction Contractor(s) is responsible for ensuring that construction is in accordance with the plans and specifications. Notwithstanding any inferences, references, or omissions to the contrary contained within this document, the City understands that Contractor (MWH) would not direct any Construction Contractors or Construction subcontractors, at the job site, and it is hereby agreed that Contractor (MWH) would assume no obligation for any acts, errors, or omissions of parties other than Contractor (MWH). 2. Project Daily Report. Complete a daily report that records decisions and observations of a general or specific nature in chronological order. 3. Coordinate Testing and Inspection. Coordinate, report, and log the results for field sampling, field testing, and laboratory testing of soils, aggregates and concrete to determine compliance of those materials with construction contract requirements. In those instances where unsatisfactory test results are obtained, follow through with notification to the Construction Contractor, and retesting of the materials after corrections are made. 4. Progress Payment Verification. Review Construction Contractor's monthly payment requests. Collect and tabulate all quantity delivery tickets for unit price quantities where required. Verify Construction Contractor's estimates of completion levels. Maintain record of all quantity calculations and substantive certifications and provide copies of such records to the City. 5. Photographs. Take pre -construction photographs/video tapes and progress photographs of construction activities on a weekly basis to document progress of the work and job site conditions encountered. 6. Final Review and Inspection. Perform a final review and inspection of the construction work and prepare a final list of items to be corrected (i.e. "Punch List").
