ORDINANCE 2073-95 <br /> AN ORDINANCE providing for the adoption of the Everett Electrical <br /> Code and repealing Ordinance No. 1776-91 <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this ordinance serves to protect the <br /> public health and safety; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the absence of the regulations adopted <br /> by this ordinance would create a public harm and a public nuisance; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the City is mandated by the State to <br /> implement and enforce the herein adopted code; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: This ordinance shall be known as the "Everett Electrical Code." <br /> Section 2: The National Electrical Code, 1993 Edition, published by the National <br /> Fire Protection Association, the Department of Labor and Industries Rules and <br /> Regulations for installing electrical wires and equipment and Administrative Rules <br /> (Chapter 19.28 RCW), and the Department of Labor and Industries Electrical <br /> Installation Law (Chapters 296-46 and 296-401 Washington Administrative Code) as <br /> adopted by the State of Washington February, 1994, are hereby adopted by reference <br /> except as such portions as are hereinafter deleted, amended or specified. <br /> Section 3: Amendments Made in the National Electrical Code. <br /> A. The National Electrical Code is amended by adding a new Article 80 - <br /> Administrative section which shall read as follows: <br /> 80-1 EXISTING BUILDINGS. Buildings or structures to which additions, <br /> alterations or repairs are made to electrical system, including any and all <br /> electrical wires, services, equipment and apparatus shall comply with all the <br /> requirements for new work in buildings and structures as set forth in this Code <br /> except as specifically provided for in this section. <br /> (a) In the event of unsafe or hazardous wiring, Section 11 shall take <br /> precedence. <br /> 80-2 MAINTENANCE. All electrical wires, equipment and apparatus shall <br /> be maintained in a safe condition. All devices and safeguards which are <br /> required by this Code in a building, sign or structure when erected, altered or <br /> repaired shall be maintained in a safe and good working order. The owner or <br /> his agent shall be responsible for the maintenance of all such electrical wiring, <br /> equipment and apparatus. <br /> 1 <br />
