. 5 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2072-95 <br /> AN ORDINANCE providing for the adoption of the 1994 Edition of the <br /> Uniform Mechanical Code and repealing Ordinance No. 1884-92. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this ordinance serves to protect the <br /> public health and safety; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the absence of the regulations adopted <br /> by this ordinance would create a public harm and a public nuisance; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the City is mandated by the State to <br /> implement and enforce the herein adopted code; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: This ordinance shall be known as the "Everett Mechanical Code." <br /> Section 2: The Uniform Mechanical Code, together with Appendices A, B and C as <br /> published by the International Conference of Building Officials, as amended by WAC <br /> 51-32, being particularly the 1994 Editions thereof and the whole thereof, save and <br /> except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended are hereby <br /> adopted by reference and incorporated herein as fully as if set out at length herein. <br /> Section 3: Amendments made in the Uniform Mechanical Code. <br /> A. Section 102 of the 1994 Edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code is hereby <br /> amended by deleting: <br /> Sec. 102. The purpose of this code is to provide minimum standards to <br /> safeguard life or limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and <br /> controlling the design, construction, installation, quality of materials, location, <br /> operation, and maintenance or use of heating, ventilating, cooling, refrigeration <br /> systems, incinerators, and other miscellaneous heat-producing appliances within <br /> this jurisdiction. <br /> and inserting in its place: <br /> It is expressly the purpose of the Code to provide for and promote the health, <br /> safety and welfare of the general public and not to create or otherwise establish <br /> or designate any particular class or group of persons who will or should be <br /> especially protected or benefited by the terms of this Code. <br /> 1 <br />
