. 5 ORDINANCE NO. 2072-95 AN ORDINANCE providing for the adoption of the 1994 Edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code and repealing Ordinance No. 1884-92. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this ordinance serves to protect the public health and safety; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the absence of the regulations adopted by this ordinance would create a public harm and a public nuisance; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the City is mandated by the State to implement and enforce the herein adopted code; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: This ordinance shall be known as the "Everett Mechanical Code." Section 2: The Uniform Mechanical Code, together with Appendices A, B and C as published by the International Conference of Building Officials, as amended by WAC 51-32, being particularly the 1994 Editions thereof and the whole thereof, save and except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated herein as fully as if set out at length herein. Section 3: Amendments made in the Uniform Mechanical Code. A. Section 102 of the 1994 Edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code is hereby amended by deleting: Sec. 102. The purpose of this code is to provide minimum standards to safeguard life or limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, installation, quality of materials, location, operation, and maintenance or use of heating, ventilating, cooling, refrigeration systems, incinerators, and other miscellaneous heat-producing appliances within this jurisdiction. and inserting in its place: It is expressly the purpose of the Code to provide for and promote the health, safety and welfare of the general public and not to create or otherwise establish or designate any particular class or group of persons who will or should be especially protected or benefited by the terms of this Code. 1
