RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION declaring the City's intent to accept a ' <br /> gift from Barbara Lamoureux in the amount of$20,000 -:'' <br /> towards the design and installation of the "Compass Rose" <br /> mosaic for the plaza overlook at Grand Avenue Park <br /> WHEREAS, a Compass Rose is a figure displaying the orientation of the cardinal <br /> directions of North, South, East and West; and <br /> WHEREAS, artist Glen Andersen has been selected as the artist through a competitive <br /> process conducted by the City of Everett Cultural Arts Commission to design, fabricate and <br /> install an original inlay for the Grand Avenue Park plaza overlook; and <br /> WHEREAS, a 27-foot in diameter mosaic Compass Rose that incorporates images of <br /> birds, waves, ships and sea life will be installed for the plaza overlook at Grand Avenue Park for <br /> all to enjoy; and <br /> WHEREAS, the theme of the Grand Avenue Park Compass Rose is developed around <br /> the history of the Everett waterfront, the Puget Sound environment and the historic Grand <br /> Avenue neighborhood; and <br /> WHEREAS, community member Barbara Lamoureux has offered to donate $20,000, <br /> paid in two payments of$10,000 one in 2008, one in 2009 towards the design and installation of <br /> the "Compass Rose" mosaic for the plaza overlook at Grand Avenue Park in honor of her friend <br /> Becky Fauver, an Everett City planner who lived from 1976 to 2006, whose years were few, but <br /> whose impact was great on those with whom she worked; and <br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Ray Stephenson recommends acceptance of Barbara Lamoureux's <br /> gift to the City of Everett: <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE <br /> EVERETT CITY COUNCIL THAT: <br /> The Everett City Council gratefully accepts the donation of $20,000 from Barbara <br /> Lamoureux to the City of Everett to be used exclusively towards the design and installation of <br /> the art piece titled"Compass Rose" mosaic for the plaza overlook at.Grand Avenue Park. <br /> Council member Introducing Resolution <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED this 28th day of May, 2008. <br /> Council President <br />
