Summary and Conclusion
The Everett Police Department currently has important equipment needs in the Computer Forensics,
Financial Crimes Unit, Records Division Public Disclosure Unit and Patrol Division. Provision of back-up
forensic computer investigative equipment, financial crimes digital evidence transmission/storage, public
disclosure high-speed document copying and patrol unit digital camera enhanced availability are all very
important initiatives. These current equipment needs cut across the mainstream of core department patrol,
investigative and records functions and each project element has been reviewed and identified as a
significant and necessary contribution to the conduct of the mission of each respective unit, as described.
Insufficient resources are currently available, from the City of Everett budget, to fund the purchase
of each of these equipment items. Utilization of available 2008 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance
Grant funds, allocated for the City of Everett, to purchase this equipment has the potential to enhance the
efficiency and effectiveness of the Patrol, Financial Crimes and Digital Forensic units that provide law
enforcement and other related services to the citizens of the City of Everett.
