Pedestrian Interpretive trails
* Locate a trail adjacent to Narbeck Creek, starting from its wetland headwaters on the
Fluke Manufacturing Company property to the east-west trail along Mukilteo Boulevard.
Standards for environmentally sensitive areas would apply.
* Develop an interpretive trail around the 15 acres of wetland in the Narbeck Creek
drainage.
* Locate a trail adjacent to Powdermill Creek, extending form Seaway Boulevard to
Mukilteo Boulevard, where the creek goes under a bridge and flows down to Port Gardner.
Standards for environmentally sensitive areas would apply.
* Work with Boeing to provide a pedestrian exercise/nature loop trail around their facility
for employees and visitors.
* Study all proposed trails for neighborhood connections.
Bicycle trails
* Provide a direct, preferably separated commuter bicycle route from the Interurban Trail in
the I-5 corridor to the industrial complex. This could be achieved through road
improvements to Highway 526 as mitigation.
* Develop a bicycle/pedestrian trail along the abandoned Great Northern Railroad track
alignment, which runs along the length of Japanese gulch and link Seaway Boulevard to
Mukilteo Boulevard. The trail could be extended south through the Boeing property, to
connect with the existing trail along West Casino Road.
* Extend the existing trails along West Casino Road westward to 44th Avenue SW, 526
and connecting with Highway 525 (Mukilteo Speedway).
* Designate Merrill Creek Parkway as a bicycle route with the intention of adding bicycle
lanes at a future date when the road undergoes a major repair effort. Continue the bicycle
route to the Seaway Boulevard, connecting with existing bicycle lanes along West Casino
Road.
* Provide bicycle lanes along Hardeson Road and add signalized crosswalks where
appropriate in order to cross this heavily used industrial road.
* Extend the existing bicycle/pedestrian lane along Mukilteo Boulevard from Howarth Park
to its intersection with Highway 525 in the City of Mukilteo.
* Coordinate with the City of Mukilteo to develop bicycle lanes along Highway 525
(Mukilteo Speedway)to facilitate access to and from the Mukilteo ferry dock. Connect this
trail with bicycle lanes along Mukilteo Boulevard, as extended from Howarth Park.
* Require bicycle lanes on newly constructed roadways providing further access to the
industrial area.
Cross Country Skiing Trails
* Designate the Japanese gulch trail to serve also as a winter use cross country skiing trail.
W:\PLANNING\TRAILS\COMP96.DOC 17
