process. Plans for trail monitoring may also be developed with the cooperation of neighborhood
groups.
PUBLIC INFORMATION SYSTEM
Signage
Several layers of information are needed to fully integrate trail routes:
1. Regional level
2. Subarea level
3. Neighborhood level
Regional Level
Signage needs to be provided at regional centers such as parks, libraries, park and rides,
and major bus strops to inform people about the regional nature of the trail system.
Information would be directed beyond Everett residents to include Snohomish County
and possibly King County residents.
Community Level
Signage at community parks in each subarea should be developed to alert residents to the
opportunities within the local and regional area. Mailings could be developed for
residents in each subarea identifying potential trail corridors and uses, while alerting
people about the opportunity to donate/sell easements for trails across their property
where appropriate.
Neighborhood Level
Sign boards could be placed on kiosks within neighborhood parks
publicizing designated neighborhood trail routes. Trail monitoring groups
could advertise their presence in this way, and invite others to join.
W:\PLANNING\TRAILS\COMP96.DOC 36
