C.S.3143
Determinaticn of Nonsignificance
Intermec Corporate Headquarters
SEPA File No. 32-89
Dear Mr. Doughty:
This letter is in response to your request for our comments on the
proposed Kenilworth Hills Industrial Park project which we received
from your office March 23, 1989. This proposal seeks building and
public works permits to allow construction of 312,000 square feet of
office, light manufacturing and warehouse space in Phase one. An
additional 100,000 square feet of office, light manufacturing and
warehouse space would be constructed in Phase Two of this proposed
development. A third Phase will involve conceptual approval of
approximately 500,000 square feet of office, light manufacturing, and
warehouse space as part of the overall master development plan for
this proposal. The Quadrant Corporation is the developer of Phase 1

,
and 2 while Intermec Corporation will be the owner and occupant of
between
w
this project. The site is located in southwest Everett,
Powderhill Gulch and Japanese Gulch, south of 56th Street S.W., at the
termini of ocean and Sound Avenues'; approximately 1-1/2 miles north
of the SR-526/20th Avenue West interchange in the City of Everett.
The State's comments on this proposal are as follows:
1) The Intermec facility will be developed in three phases. Phase One
will be built by 1990 consisting of 300,00 square feet of floor space
and Phase Two will be built by 1992 consisting of 100,000 square feet
of floor space. Phase Three did not give a completion date and will
consist of 500,000 square feet of floor space. The facility will be
used for office and light manufacturing activities.
This area of Snohomish County is experiencing congestion due to rapid
development and the addition of traffic from this proposed development
will only add to this congestion. The Department recommends some type
of mitigation measures be imposed on the developer to help alleviate
his development's added traffic to City streets and State highways.
