4D
C
9H[n
H
HH
Vi
o
H
The traffic study consultant, Entranco Engineers, Inc.,
has stated
y
d
that only one State intersection will require mitigation
as a result
of this development being built. The consultant has given
suggestions
H M
g
for revisions to channelization at State intersections to
improve the
Hy
existing LOS for the background traffic that will exist without this
xH
H
development.
tyy
H
TSM (Transportation Systems Management) measures should
be strongly
0
H
considered by the developer as mitigation for his development's
d
rA
generated traffic impacts. This type of development should
lend itself
i
to such measures as carpool/vanpool priority parking
and transit
H
CA
subsidies. Close coordination with the affected transit
agencies is
y o
essential.
2) Ninety percent of the traffic generated by Intermec will use the
SR-526/20th Avenue West interchange. In 1995 this development will
generate 988 AM peak hour trips and 1,058 PM peak hour trips onto the
ramps of this interchange. The existing PM peak hour LOS north of SR-
526 was determined to be a "D". In 1995 the LOS will be "F" for the
westbound off -ramp in the AM peak hour and a LOS of "F" for the
eastbound on -ramp in the PM peak hour.
The Department recommends that this developer examine the possibility
of providing HOV improvements such as queue jumps or bypasses to/from
SR-526 and its ramps with 20th Avenue West.
low viiiw
", awl,
3) Eleven percent of the traffic generated by Intermec will use the
SR-526/Evergreen Way interchange. In 1995 this development will
generate 121 A14 peak hour trips and 129 PM peak hour trips onto the
ramps of this interchange. The existing PM peak hour LOS at the SR-526
westbound ramp is "D" and at the eastbound ramp it is "C". In 1995 the
LOS will be a "F" at Evergreen Way and the westbound ramps and a LOS
"F" at the Evergreen Way and the eastbound ramps in the PM peak hour.
s r,
+
The only mitigation offered by this developer is on Evergreen Way at
the SR-526 eastbound ramps. To accommodate this proposed development's
traffic at this interchange, the developer proposes to add an
eastbound right -turn lane. It should be noted that a major problem at
+ +
n this interchange is the close spacing of the signalized ramp
u intersections. An alternative mitigation measure, which should be
considered, would be participation in a rebuild of the interchange to
an urban diamond configuration with only one ramp intersection. For
details on this suggestion you can contact Amity Trowbridge of the
Department's District One Traffic Planning Section at 562-4234.
The Department also recommends that the developer examine the
left
possibility of providing HOV improvements such as queue jumps or
bypasses to/from SR-526 and its ramp intersections with Evergreen Way.
L
4) Seven percent of this proposed development's generated traffic will
us the SR-526/Broadway Avenue intersection. In 1995 this development
will generate 77 AM peak hour trips and 82 PM peak hour trips on the
ramps of this intersection. The existing PM peak hour LOS was
determined to be "F".
