I 'd like to <br /> respond to sevEral of the items from yaur letter. <br /> 1. The double 8 inch CMU walls with a 2-3/4" physical air space <br /> along grid line 4 provide an equivalent concrete thickness of <br /> approximately 6.5", thereby creati.ng a 4 hour fire separation <br /> wall and allvwing this project to be considercd as 2 buildings <br /> (UBC 505e) . There are no openings through this separation wall < <br /> Building 2410 is a two story building as the second floor does <br /> not match the definition of a mezzanine (UBC 1716(3) and <br /> 1716 (4) ) , nor does the first floor match the definition of a <br /> basement (UBC 403-basement, 420-story', and 420-story, first) . <br /> Therefore, building 2410 may be twice the allowable size for a <br /> type V-N bui.lding per table Sc, or 16,000 SF., total (UBC 505b) . <br /> This �uilding has 7, 450 SF on the first floor and 3 , 750 SF on <br /> the second floor. <br /> Building 2420 is separated on 2 sides by public ways or yards <br /> great�r than 20 ' in width and therefore may be increased in size <br /> by 1-1/4 percent for each foot by which the minimum �aidth <br /> exceeds 20 ' up to a 50$ maximum increase in required size per <br /> table 5c. <br /> Min width of separation - gg � <br /> Less 20 ' width = _20 � <br /> Total yard/pub width for calculation = 69 ' <br /> Calculated allowable increase - 69 ' X 1-1/4$ = 86. 25% <br /> Maximum increased size = 8, 000 SF X 50$ = 12, 000 SF <br /> Actual Bui2ding size = 10, 000 SF <br /> SE4TTLE ANCHOFlAGE <br />
