September 1 l, 2008
HWA Project No. 2008 094 i
photoionization detector(PID). For each boring, samples with the highest level of
organic vapors and/or most discernible visual/olfactory contamination will be
shipped to the laboratory for chemical analysis. Ground water samples will be
collected using low-flow purging methods, in general accordance with Ecology
guidance. HWA will deliver samples to the laboratory within 24 hours of
sampling and will employ frill chain-of-custody procedures to allow tracking and
handling of the samples. The City may request supplemental sampling based on
the sampling results. The attached cost estimate does not include costs for
supplemental sampling.
TASK 3 —ANALYSIS/REPORTING
• Analysis. HWA will submit the soil and ground water samples to an Ecology-
•
accredited analytical laboratory for analyses for one or more of the following
analytes (based on preliminary data) by using the following test methods:
• Gasoline-Range Hydrocarbons and volatile aromatic hydrocarbons —
Washington State Method NWTPH-Gx-BTEX/ 5035A
• Total RCRA Metals - EPA Method#6010/#7471 (arsenic, cadmium,
chromium, copper, lead, mercury, silver, and zinc)
• EDB, EDC, MTBE (Per MTCA Table 830-1)- EPA Method #8260/5033A •
• Total organic carbon,selected nutrients,oxidation/reduction potential,
hardness(initial treatability/feasibility information for selected remedial
alternatives).
• EPH/VPH/PAH - EPA Method#8021B/8270C: Analyze 2-3 selected soil
samples in order to calculate method B cleanup levels.
• PAHs - EPA Method #8270
•
HWA will map and distribute the analytical testing based on visual and field
screening results. The laboratory's standard turnaround time is ten working days. •
'Follow-up analyses, based on initial analytical results may result in a total
turnaround time of up to three weeks.
• Investigation derived waste. Soil cuttings, purge water, and all investigation-
derived waste wilt be stored on site in drums pending analysis, then disposed of
off site. HWA will also properly dispose of existing drummed material on site
from previous explorations by others, and will properly dispose of drilling
. materials and spoils from investigations done under this scope_
• Reporting. After review of the sampling results and decision by the City
regarding whether to conduct any supplemental sampling, HWA will prepare an
RUES report meeting the requirements of Chapter 173-340-350 WAC,
summarizing our findings and recommendations for further assessment, if
necessary. At the conclusion of this assessment, HWA will prepare a report
describing in detail the work performed and presenting the results and
Drywall GTS HWA sow Exhibit A 9 17 48.doc 5 HWA GEOSC1ENCES INC.
2
