�l. � � � _I 1.0 IN"RODUCTION _I This report presents Landau Associates' geotechnical engineering conclusions and design � rec:ommendations for proposed additions to the Verizon Eastmont Remote Switch Unit (RSU) Bailding Addition, located at 10008 25th Avenue SE in Everett, Washington. The project location is shown o:�the � Vicinity Map, Figure 1. The Site Plan, Figure 2, shows the building layout, the location of explorations completed for the project,and the location ofprevious explorations conducted for the existing building. � I 1.1 PROJECT UNDERSTANDING We undetstand that Verizon is proposing to constcucf two additions to the existing Eastmont RSU structure. Thc existing structure consists of a single-story building about 34 by 44 ft in plan dimensions. The building is reportedly in good condition. A 20 by 34 R addition is planned off the south end of the � existing building and a 12 by 26 ft addition is planned off the east side of the existing building. A new ; pad of crushed surfacing is planned along the east side for a fuel tank and condenser. The additions will consist of single-story, wood-framed structures with concrete slabon-grade floors. Foundation loads are expected to be relatively light. Landau Associates completed a previous investigation of the site to support design and const�Uc�ion of the existing RSU building. Our findings, conclusions, and recommendations were summarized in a November 16, 1989 geotechnical report submitted to Veriwn(GTE N�. • 1.2 SCOPE OF SERVICES Landau Associates was contracted by Verizon to provide geotechnical engineering services to support the project. Our services were provided in accordance with the scope of services outlined in our proposal dated March 29,2002. Written authorization to proceed was provided by Verizon.
