December 29, 2006 Hoeuy Sun 11706 25th Ave SE Everett WA 982G8 Re: Connectior to A� �iable Public Sewer- On April 6, 2006, a letter was sent to inform you that a review of our records indicates that your property may not be connected to the public sewer system. The Everett Municipal Code requires that all property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a public sanitary sewer shall connect their private sewer system to the public sewer after being notified by the Public Works Department. Our records also indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet of an existing public sanitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpt from our sanitary sewer chart indicating the proximity of your property to a public sanitary sewer system. Any costs tc connect, including construction and monthly sewer charges, are to be borne by the property owner. If you believe that your residence or business is currently connected to the City's sewer main, please contact the City of Everett Public Works Department at 425-257-8800 so we can update our records. A sewer permit and application issued by the City and signed by an inspector is one viable means of proof. Another alternative to prove the structure is connected to the sewer system is to allow the City of Everett to perform a dye test. A dye test requires the owner's permission and the resident's notification to allow a city employee to enter the premises and flush dye into the toilet. In a short amount of time the colored water will appear in the sewer main if the residence is hooked up to the sewer system. In the event you are not currently connected to the sewer and wish to delay connection, the City Engineer may, on written request from the property owner, extend the time to connect to the public sewer for a period of up to a maximum of ten (10) years; provided that, at the property owner's expense, the Snohomish Health District certifies, in writing, to the Public Works Department that the existing sewage system is operational.
