September 12, 1977
The regular meeting of the Everett Board of Adjustment was held
at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, City Hall., Everett,
Washington.
Mr. Russell presided; Mr. Black and Mr. Kristiansen were present;
Mr. Baird and Mr. Berg were absent.
Because of the large audience and a number of items on the agenda,
the Chairman suggested the agenda items be moved around to fit the
largest number of people present. This suggestion was then agreed
to by the Board and the audience.
A hearing was held on the application of Consolidated Dairy Products
Company, 635 Elliot Ave. W., Seattle, WA 98119, for a variance from
Section 19.40.020, Off -Street Parking, for permission to reduce the
number of parking stalls to fifty (50) rather than the required
one hundred and eighteen (118).
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Block 567, Lots 11-22 inclusive, Plat of Everett
ADDRESS: 2531 Broadway
ZONING: C-1 General Commercial
Mr. John Collins represented Consolidated Dairy Products and
explained a variance had been granted before on the same issue but
more than one year had lapsed so he was reapplying and reinstating
his position. Mr. Collins also mentioned his financing for a
restaurant was now available so they could proceed as planned, if
the Board would grant the variance requested.
The minutes of May 3, 1976, concerning Consolidated Dairy Products
were read in order to bring the Board and the audience up to date.
It was also reiterated that additional off-street parking is avail-
able during the proposed restaurant's maximum hours of usage.
There was no opposition from the audience.
After listening to the testimony and considering all the facts, it
was moved by Mr. Black, seconded by Mr. Kristiansen, and unanimously
carried to grant the applicant's request for the following reasons:
1. There are exceptional circumstances or conditions
applying to the subject property that do not apply
to other properties in the same vicinity or zone,
specifically that additional property for pari::ng is
not available directly adjacent to the building.
