WEYERHAEUSER SMITH ISLAND IJ%NDFI L
CLOSURE IMPROVEMENTS AND NPDES OUTFALL 005 EU'ANATION
SEPA BNNiOtIAENTAL CHECKLIST
_eagle
x songbirds (robin, song and golden -crowned sparrows)
x others: (osprey, waterfowl including mallards, Canada geese,
mergansers, widgeon, bufflehead, cormorant, grebes, and
gulls, starlings, and crows)
Mammals: x deer
_ bear
_ elk
_ beaver
x others: (rats, mice, river otters, mink)
Fish: _ bass
_salmon
_ trout
herring
_shellfish
others:
b. List any threatened or endangered species known to be on or near the site.
Five species listed as either threatened or endangered species are potentially found in the
Snohomish River Delta Area but are not known to be at the site:
• Bald Eagle
• Puget Sound Chinook Salmon
• Bull Trout
• Marbled Murrelet
• Cohn Salmon
c. Is the site part of a migration route? If so, explain.
Yes, it lies within the Pacific Flyway.
d. Proposed measures to preserve or enhance wildlife, if any:
No measures are proposed. The project will not result in significant disturbance of habitat.
The quality of the water discharged into the Snohomish River will be improved because of
improved storm water treatment prior to discharge.
6. Energy and Natural Resources
a. What kinds of energy (electrical, natural gas, oil, wood stove, solar) will be used to meet the
completed project's energy needs? Describe whether it will be used for heating,
manufacturing, etc.
The stormwater lift station components will include duplex submersible centrifugal pumps
that are rated for 300 gpm at 25 feet TDH. With a 3-fool working volume (approximately
6,535 gallons), one pump will be able to pump out the wet well in just over two minutes.
During a design stonn event, both pumps would operate to keep pace with storm runoff.
The second pump also provides redundancy in the event of a pump malfunction.
