SCHEDULE B: SM AT ISLAND LANDFILL , 177065B PHASE 2 CLOS RRE IMPROVEMENTS material conforms to the Specification requirements along with copies of the test results from a qualified independent testing laboratory shall be submitted to the Engineer for approval at least 10 days before the material is required for use. All material samples shall be furnished by the Contractor at the Contractor's sole expense. Samples she-B be representative and be clearly marked to show the source of the material and the intended use on the project. Sampling of the material source shall be done by the Contractor in accordance with AST, M D75. Notify the Engineer at least 24 hours prior to sampling. The Engineer ,:,:,y, at the Engineer's option, observe the sampling procedures. Tentative acceptance of the material source shall be based on an inspection of the source by the Engineer and/or the certified test results submitted by the Contractor to the Engineer, at the Engineers discretion. No imported materials shall be delivered to the site until the proposed source and materials tests have been tentatively accepted in writing by the Engineer. Fin.,l acceptance wig! be based on tests made on samples of material taken from the completed and compacted course. All testing for final acceptance shall be performed by the Engineer. 2. Gradation tests by the Contractor shall be made on samples taken at the place of production prior to shipment. Samples of the finished product for gradation testing shall be taken from each 1,500 tons of prepared materials or more often as determined by the Engineer, if variation in gradation is occurring, or;i the material appears to depart from the Specifications. Test results shall be forwarded to the Engineer within 48 hours after sampling. 3. If tests conducted by the Contractor or the Engineer indicate that the material does not meet Specification requirements, material placement will be terminated until corrective measures are taken. Material which does not conform to the Specification requirements and is placed in the wurk s!,all be removed and replaced at the Contractor's sole expense. Sampling and testing performed by the Contractor shall be done at the Contractor's sole expense. 2.2 EARTHFILL A. Excavated material from required excavations free from rocks larger than 3 inches, from roots and other organic matter, ashes, cinders, trash, debris, and other deleterious materials.
