SCHEDULE B: SM AT ISLAND LANDFILL , 177065B <br />PHASE 2 CLOS RRE IMPROVEMENTS <br />material conforms to the Specification requirements along with copies <br />of the test results from a qualified independent testing laboratory shall <br />be submitted to the Engineer for approval at least 10 days before the <br />material is required for use. All material samples shall be furnished by <br />the Contractor at the Contractor's sole expense. Samples she-B be <br />representative and be clearly marked to show the source of the material <br />and the intended use on the project. Sampling of the material source <br />shall be done by the Contractor in accordance with AST, M D75. Notify <br />the Engineer at least 24 hours prior to sampling. The Engineer ,:,:,y, at <br />the Engineer's option, observe the sampling procedures. Tentative <br />acceptance of the material source shall be based on an inspection of the <br />source by the Engineer and/or the certified test results submitted by the <br />Contractor to the Engineer, at the Engineers discretion. No imported <br />materials shall be delivered to the site until the proposed source and <br />materials tests have been tentatively accepted in writing by the <br />Engineer. Fin.,l acceptance wig! be based on tests made on samples of <br />material taken from the completed and compacted course. All testing for <br />final acceptance shall be performed by the Engineer. <br />2. Gradation tests by the Contractor shall be made on samples taken at the <br />place of production prior to shipment. Samples of the finished product <br />for gradation testing shall be taken from each 1,500 tons of prepared <br />materials or more often as determined by the Engineer, if variation in <br />gradation is occurring, or;i the material appears to depart from the <br />Specifications. Test results shall be forwarded to the Engineer within <br />48 hours after sampling. <br />3. If tests conducted by the Contractor or the Engineer indicate that the <br />material does not meet Specification requirements, material placement <br />will be terminated until corrective measures are taken. Material which <br />does not conform to the Specification requirements and is placed in the <br />wurk s!,all be removed and replaced at the Contractor's sole expense. <br />Sampling and testing performed by the Contractor shall be done at the <br />Contractor's sole expense. <br />2.2 EARTHFILL <br />A. Excavated material from required excavations free from rocks larger than <br />3 inches, from roots and other organic matter, ashes, cinders, trash, debris, and <br />other deleterious materials. Does not include waste excavated from within the <br />landfill. <br />B.
