Selected Backfill Material: Materials available onsite that Engineer <br />determines to be suitable for specific use. <br />K. Standard Specifications: When referenced in this section, shall mean Standard <br />Specifications for Road, Bridge and Municipal Construction, as published by <br />the Washington State Department of Transportation, 2004 edition, English <br />units. <br />L. Proof -Rolling: Testing of subgrade by compactive effort to identify areas that <br />will not support the future loading without excessive settlement. <br />M. Well -Graded: <br />1. A mixture of particle sizes with no specific concentration or lack thereof <br />of one or more sizes. <br />2. Does not define numerical value that must be placed on coefficient of <br />uniformity, coefficient of curvature, or other specific grain size <br />distribution parameters. <br />3. Used to define materia! type that, when compacted, produces a strong <br />and relatively incompressible soil mass free from detrimental voids. <br />1.3 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Action Submittals: <br />Samples: Imported material taken at source as specified in Article <br />Imported Material Acceptance. <br />B. Informational Submittals- Certified test results from independent testing <br />agency. <br />1.4 SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING <br />A. Complete applicable Work specified in Section 02200, Site Preparation. <br />B. Contractor shall verify with Owner that all required permits have been <br />obtained prior to start of fill and backfill work. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.1 IMPORTED MATERIAL ACCEPTANCE <br />A. All imported materials specified in this section are subject to the following <br />requirements: <br />All tests necessary for the Contractor to locate an acceptable source of <br />imported material shall be made by the Contractor.
