This section describes requirements for backfilling of trenches for pipe and <br />manholes. <br />i��a]�1►iY�1 Ci7�I.9 <br />A. Imported Material: Material obtained by Contractor from source(s) offsitc. <br />B. Lift: Loose (uncompacted) layer of material. <br />C. Pipe Zone: Backfill zone that includes full trench width and extends from <br />prepared trench bottom to an upper limit above top outside surface of pipe, <br />conduit, cable or duct bank. <br />D. Prepared Trench Bottom: Graded trench bottom after excavation and <br />installation of stabilization material, if requh-d, but before installation of <br />bedding material. <br />E. Relative Compaction: The ratio, in percent, of the as -compacted field dry <br />density to the laboratory maximum dry density as determined by <br />ASTM D698. Corrections for oversize material may be applied to either as - <br />compacted field dry density or maximum dry density, as determined by <br />Engineer. <br />F. Standard Specifications: When referenced in this section, shall mean Standard <br />Specifications for Road, Bridge and Municipal Construction, as published by <br />the Washington State Department of Transportation, 2004 edition, English <br />units. <br />1.3 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Informational Submittals: <br />Certified Gradation Analysis: Submit not less than 10 days prior to <br />delivery for imported materials or anticipated use for excavated <br />materials, except for trench stabilization material that will be submitted <br />prior to material delivery to Site. <br />SEA/177065.A7.19 DULY 16, 2004 <br />02320 1 TRENCH BACKFILL <br />
