SECTION 01563 <br />SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL <br />C. Protect natural drainage ways that are intercepted by construction activities so that no runoff <br />from the site or water from construction activities is allowed to enter the natural drainage <br />way. <br />1.08 SEDIMENT CONTROL <br />A. Construct sediment retention basins only when there are no other, more economical, <br />measures which can be employed to prevent sediment from entering streams, drainage <br />systems, and storm sewers during storm runoff. <br />B. Accomplish sediment control by well -planned and scheduled excavation and '3ackfill <br />operations and effective control measures. <br />PART 2 — PRODUCTS <br />2.01 GEOTEXTILE FABRIC <br />A. The geotextile fabric shall be as specified on the Contract Drawings. The Contractor may <br />select an alternate product meeting the following requirements: <br />1. Fibers used in the manufacture of geotexliles and threads used in sewing geotextiles <br />shall be long -chain, polymeric filaments or yarns consisting of at least 85 percent, by <br />weight, polyolefins, polyesters or polyamids. The fibers shall be formed into a network <br />such that the filaments or yarns retain dimensional stability relative to each other, <br />including selvages. h <br />2. Furnish geolextile rolls with wrapping and, prior to placement, store for protection <br />against moisture and extended ultraviolet ray exposure. Label each roll for product <br />identification. <br />3. Geotextiles to be placed above ground or exposed to ultraviolet rays shall be inert to <br />commonly encountered chemicals and be ultraviolet stabilized. <br />4. Geotextiles shall meet the specified requirements for the following uses when tested <br />according to the methods listed: <br />a.)
