SECTION 01563 <br />SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL <br />C. Contain the tuibid discharge for dewatering construction activities in a dewatering basin in <br />order to control sediment and provide filtration of water prior to it being released into <br />adjacent streams or other watercourses. <br />D. Maintain all erosion and sediment controls so that they work as intended. Any damage to <br />erosion and sediment controls shall be repaired rr replaced immediately. <br />When soil erosion and sediment control provisions are found to be not in compliance with <br />the approved plan, take corrective actions immediately. All corrective and remedial work <br />required to bring the site into compliance will be at no cost to Sound Transit. <br />3.04 CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Install all sediment and erosion control prior to any major soil disturbance, in their proper <br />sequence, and maintain until permanent protection is established. <br />Immediately following initial disturbance or rough grading, protect all critical areas subject to <br />erosion. <br />C. Place all silt fences prinr to grading operations and installation of utilities. <br />D. Stockpile a minimum of ten (10) hay bales onsite for emergencies. <br />E. Temporarily cap storm drainage inlets, where indicated, and/or protect by a filter to prevent <br />entry of sediment carried by runoff water until vegetation and/or paving is established as <br />planned. <br />Place temporary construction entrances as shown on the Contract Drawings or as required. <br />Place the gravel on a rough graded, compacted subgrade which has been covered with <br />Mirafi 600X geotextile fabric or approved equal. <br />G. Spray water on the exposed areas in quantity as required to prevent blowing and movement <br />of dust from exposed dry soil surfaces, when directed by the Resident Engineer. <br />3.05 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE <br />A. Sill Fence: <br />Silt fence shall consist of goolexlile fabric which width shall be at least 3 feel to provide <br />for a 2 foot high fence after 1 foct of fabric is buried in the existing soil. Heavy duty silt <br />fence shall consist of geotextile fabric which width shall be at least 4 feel to provide for <br />a 3 foot high fence after 1 foot of fabric is buried in the existing soil. Join sections of <br />fabric in such a manner that, when in operation, the sections work effectively as a <br />continuous fence. Install fence posts at a slight angle toward the anticipated runoff <br />source. <br />2. Heavy-duty sill fence shall include a welded wire mesh backing for the geotextile fabric. <br />This welded steel wire mesh shall be galvanized and contain 4-inch square openings. <br />The geotextile fabric shall be secured to the welded wire mesh. <br />Capital Projects Commuter Rail 01563 - 6 IFB No. RTA/CP 21-06 <br />Everett Station Phase 2 SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL <br />
