SECTION 01563
SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
2. In order to minimize tracking of dirt and other materials onto existing roadways,
construct stabilized construction driveway at locations where vehicles exit a worksite.
Maintain driveway by top dressing with additional stone, as directed, and remove when
no longer required.
Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Maintenance:
Maintain soil erosion and sediment control measures during the construction season as
well as during winter months and other times when the Project is closed down,
throughout the life of the Project, to ensure that the measures function properly.
Immediately inspect soil erosion and sediment controls after each rain and immediately
perform any corrective work to return the soil erosion and sediment control measures
to proper function. Replace erosion control measures damaged due to washouts or
filtration at no cost to Sound Transit.
2. Remove sediment from silt fences, and catch basin inlet protection, when the sediment
reaches 50 percent of the height of the soil erosion and sediment control measure.
Dispose of sediment removed in accordance with Section 02200.
G. Inlet Sediment Traps:
1. Construct inlet sediment traps, consisting of silt fence and temporary stone inlets, to
control sedimentation at existing and proposed inlet drainage structures.
2. The silt fence shall consist of geotextile fabric fence. Join sections of fabric in such a
manner that, when in operation, the sections work effectively as a continuous fence.
Install the silt fence around the drainage structure and meet into the stone inlets.
Install fence posts at a slight angle toward the anticipated flow.
3. Place the temporary stone inlets, consisting of coarse aggregate size No.3, in each
flow line upgrade of the inlet structure. Place the coarse aggregate on geolextile fabric
which is buried in the soil. When joining sections of geotextile fabric, overlap the
sections a minimum of 18 inches in the direction of flow.
H. Stabilized Construction Driveway:
1. Shape the surface on which the crushed stone is to be placed to an even surface.
Place the geotextile fabric layer next as shown on the Contract Drawings.
2. Use all dimensions as shown on the Contract Drawings.
3. Make the finished surface uniform and even.
4. Provide a smooth transition between the stabilized construction driveway and the
public right-of-way. Keep over spillage to a minimum and remove all debris daily from
the public roadway.
Catch Basin Inlet Protection
Capital Projects Commuter Rail 01563 - 8 IFB No. RTAICP 21-06
Everett Station Phase 2 SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
